Things I have been thinking about lately...
Quite a steady pace of life this is... and I am enjoying it without much rush and havoc though (let me inform you) this is the year for boards- one of the most important and competitive years of life and I don't very well know how am I still following a not so tiresome schedule or not working much hard and may be the results will show the labour... still I wish for the best. Yup these are a matter of great concern but for the past few days the only major thing I have been thinking about are the WARS: World War I and II (presently more concerned about the former). I don't know how I ended up being so very excited to know about these wars from being a complete Maths and Science fanatic. Wars never appeared to lure me or may be I never thought of them in this way whatsoever... still let me be clear I, in any way, don't see the war experiences, reasons, tales and facts to be a source of thrill and adventure but try to feel the pain, the heated moments brave soldiers and martyrs had upon facing death... for death appears to be no adventure for those who find it just a 'wrong' step ahead. My concerns also stretch to the various reasons for different countries to come up with war... I want to know these two major events of world history from its very depth... a difficult task but still I will try to study and understand the different ideologies and situations around the world as well as possible. Recently, I have been searching some books for this purpose... have chosen a few and am too eager to get them (I wish I get them fast.).
My wishlist...
The Guns of August
Author: Barbara Tuchman
(A factual account of the First World war)
All Quiet On The Western Front
Author: Erich Maria Remarque
( This book doesn't directly deal with the facts of the First World War but rather focuses on the experience of a soldier on the western front... the way he was forced to move into the army at a tender age... the way he became isolated from his family and lost the capability to cope with the mainstream society and much more followed by his death. Huh...)
Next to the above books lies 'Mein Kampf'
Mein Kampf
Author: Adolf Hitler
(Mein Kampf ( meaning: My struggle) is Adolf Hitler's autobiography in which he presented his ideologies, political propaganda and his logics for the various steps taken by him)
IF YOU HAVE SOME OTHER OPTIONS OF BOOKS YOU ARE REQUESTED TO NAME THEM.
I am too eager to buy these. Another war that had overwhelmed me sometime ago was the Kargil war of 1999 between India and Pakistan particularly the way the soldiers struggled and starved in the extremely cold weather of Kargil and the nearby regions, the way they led life in trenches, the way the Indian soldiers had to change their place at nights without anyone getting to know of them. In the solid darkness of cold nights the leader could use only a very, very small amount of light to move forward while the others simply followed his footsteps in the surrounding black. Any mistake in the rocky, mountainous region and the rest of the troop would suffer sometimes falling into deep valleys though reports say that the Indian soldiers of the time were trained well enough to take the right step... yet hardships remained. I somewhere have a great wish to know about it... may be I shall get the book 'Despatches from Kargil'... though I am not much sure of this.

Dispatches From Kargil
Author: Srinjoy Chowdhury
(a reporter who covered the war for The Stateman- a national daily in India)
In one of my early posts, I had told of books to be the greatest power (see HERE) and I still strongly feel this to be so. They simply overwhelm me. Love books to the extent infinity. I shall be posting details: themes, plots and settings of the above books soon for your reading them. I still have some more books in my wishlist... not war related but simply fictions. I will be posting about them soon too. For now I shall close at this... though the many other topics I was thinking of ( songs, poetry, movies, science and the like... you must be understanding my sectors now) are still left. I shall be posting about them in the upcoming days.
Thank you for paying attention!
